💬 Advice

SmartBatteryProtect 12/24V 220 A by Victron Battery Protection with Bluetooth

The BatteryProtect disconnects the battery from non-essential loads before it is completely discharged (which would damage it) or before it no longer has enough power to start the engine.

Bluetooth: Easy Programming
By using Bluetooth to program the Smart BatteryProtect, all necessary
on/off thresholds can be set.
Alternatively, one of nine pre-set on/off thresholds can be set using the programming pin
(see manual).
If necessary, the Bluetooth function can be deactivated.

12/24 V automatic voltage range detection

The BatteryProtect automatically detects the system voltage.

Easy Programming

The BatteryProtect can be set to switch on and off at several different voltages. The seven-segment display then indicates which setting has been selected.

A special setting for lithium-ion batteries

In this mode, the BatteryProtect can be controlled by the VE.Bus BMS. Note: The BatteryProtect can also be used as a charge breaker between a battery charger and a Li-ion battery. See wiring diagram in the manual.

Extremely low power consumption

This is important in the case of lithium-ion batteries, especially after shutdown due to a low voltage level. Please also refer to our data sheet on lithium-ion batteries and the VE.Bus BMS manual for further information.

Overvoltage protection

To prevent sensitive loads from being damaged by overvoltage, the load is always switched off when the DC voltage exceeds 16 V or 32 V.

Explosion protection

No relays but MOSFET switches and therefore no spark formation. Output for delayed alarm The alarm output is activated when the battery voltage drops below the preset switch-off value for more than 12 seconds. Starting the engine therefore does not activate the alarm. The alarm output is a short-circuit protected open collector output connected to the negative (minus) rail. Max. current 50 mA. The alarm output is normally used to activate an acoustic signal, an LED or a relay.

Load disconnect and reconnect delay

The load is switched off 90 seconds after the alarm is activated. If the battery voltage rises again within this period (after the engine has been started, for example) to the reconnect threshold, the load is not switched off. The load is reconnected 30 seconds after the battery voltage has exceeded the specified voltage value for reconnection.
