The REDARC Smart Start SBI12 is a microprocessor-controlled battery isolator that is used in dual battery systems as a solenoid priority system. It protects the starting battery from excessive discharge, while the auxiliary battery can power other required loads. The SBI12 delivers 12 volts DC with a continuous output of 100 A.

The battery isolator is mainly used in 4WD and commercial vehicles and contains electronic components that prevent the relay from generating excessive voltage spikes. It features low standby current consumption, sophisticated fault detection, and an LED operating indicator that warns the user of faults such as overvoltage, voltage drop, and excessive current consumption.

It can also be used in conjunction with a battery charger (BCDC) to start the starting battery from the auxiliary battery if it fails.
