Compact Charge Controller for 12V/24V Systems / 6A

The FOX-062 is a state-of-the-art miniature charge controller for 12V and 24V solar systems. Despite its small dimensions, the overcharge protection is designed for a solar current of 6A. Reverse current protection is integrated.

The charging characteristic can be set for lead-acid, GEL, or AGM batteries using the red DIP switch in the controller housing. Of course, current LiFePO4 batteries are also supported. With a slider, the recess can be closed, making accidental adjustment and ingress of dirt impossible.

On the solar input side, there is a SureSeal socket into which the module cable with a SureSeal plug can be inserted. On the output side to the battery, a car plug with integrated fuse is mounted. If the red adapter at the tip of the plug is removed, a car socket can also be used.

High Charging Efficiency
The charge controller is designed as a series controller with active reverse current protection. This achieves a charging efficiency of 98%. In contrast to MPPT controllers, this type of controller has up to 20% higher charging power when using 12V or 24V solar modules. The high converter losses are completely avoided. Especially in low light conditions, where with MPPT controllers the converter losses almost completely destroy the yield, the series controller shines. Since the FOX-062 works almost loss-free, no heat sink is necessary. The best proof of an optimal circuit layout.
Automatic 12V/24V Recognition
After plugging in the controller, the controller checks the current battery voltage and thus determines the system voltage of the battery. No settings are required for this. For safety reasons, the controller does not start at battery voltages below 8.6V, as the battery may be defective.
LED Display
The FOX-062 has a 3-color LED. By combining the color of the LED and the flashing frequency, a variety of information about the battery and charge is displayed.
red flashing: Battery empty (< 20%)="">
red steady: Battery weak (<30%)>
orange: Battery normal (30%-70%)
green steady: Battery normal (>70%)
green flashing: Battery full (100%)
If a charging current flows from the solar module into the battery, the LED flickers briefly every few seconds. If the plug is pulled out of the socket, the LED goes out - even if a solar module is connected.
