Victron Argodiode 180-3AC 3 batteries 180A

Battery isolators allow several batteries to be charged simultaneously from a single power source, without the individual batteries being connected to each other. For example, the service battery can be discharged without simultaneously discharging the starter battery. The use of modern Schottky diodes also keeps the voltage drop small. It is approximately 0.3 V at low currents and approximately 0.45 V at nominal current.

All models in this series are equipped with a compensation diode that slightly increases the alternator's output voltage to compensate for the voltage drop caused by the Schottky diodes.

Alternator start-up excitation Some types of alternators require a DC voltage at the B+ terminal for start-up excitation. On the one hand, a direct cable connection exists due to the connection between the battery and the alternator. On the other hand, however, the isolation diode prevents current from flowing back, so the alternator does not start. The new 802AC battery isolator has a special current-limited connection for start-up excitation when the alternator is started.
