DC-DC converter for charging a 12V or 24V battery in vehicles with a smart alternator
Particularly suitable for regenerative braking, Euro 5 and Euro 6 engines.
The DC-DC converter Buck-Boost is a DC-DC converter for charging a 12V or 24V battery in vehicles with a smart alternator. The converter charges the auxiliary battery with a preset charging voltage, eliminating high voltages (e.g., Mercedes: 15.4V) or low voltages.
Charging booster for recreational vehicles
The Buck-Boosters ensure fast and efficient charging of the leisure battery from the alternator while driving. Unlike a simple battery isolator, the charging voltage is increased to the value necessary for a full charge for the respective battery type, as required by battery manufacturers. This allows the full charging current to flow, and significant amounts of power can be charged into the battery in a short time. Long charging cables and losses, as well as voltage fluctuations at the alternator, are precisely regulated.
The free programmability allows the device to regulate the voltage up (from 12 V to 24 V), regulate the voltage down (24 V to 12 V), or merely adapt to the appropriate charging voltage (12/12 V or 24/24 V systems).
"Engine running" detection system
Deep discharge of the vehicle's starter battery is prevented by a built-in system that detects when the "engine is running". Instead of this detection system, the converter can also be activated by a programmable input (D+, CANbus, or (+)15 connection).
Fully programmable
The converter can be fully programmed using a simple and user-friendly PC application. (A USB Type A male to USB Type B male cable is required)
One product for 12V, 24V, and 12/24V systems
The converter can be programmed to charge a 12V or 24V auxiliary battery via either a 12V or 24V alternator or a starter battery.
Input current limiting
The output current is determined by the following factors:
- The setting of the maximum charging current.
- The setting of the maximum input current.
- The limitation of the maximum operating temperature of the converter.
