A MultiPlus, plus ESS (Energy Storage System) function
The MultiPlus-II is a multifunctional inverter/charger with all the functions of the MultiPlus and an additional function, namely that of an external current sensor. This extends the PowerControl and PowerAssist functions to 50 A and 100 A respectively. The MultiPlus-II is ideal for professional maritime applications, yachts, vehicles, and land-based, off-grid applications. The device also has a built-in anti-islanding function and is increasingly approved for ESS applications in more and more countries. Several different system configurations are possible. For more information, please refer to the ESS Design & Configuration manual.
PowerControl and PowerAssist – increasing grid or generator power
A maximum grid or generator current can be set. The MultiPlus-II then takes into account other connected AC loads and uses only the "remaining" current to charge the battery. This prevents the generator or grid connection from being overloaded (PowerControl function). With the PowerAssist function, the PowerControl principle gains a new dimension. Peak loads often occur only for a limited period. In such a case, the MultiPlus-II immediately compensates for insufficient generator, shore power, or grid power with energy from the battery. If the load is reduced, i.e., consumers are switched off, the then sufficiently available energy can be used to charge the batteries.
Solar power: AC even in case of power failure
The MultiPlus-II can be used with both off-grid and grid-tied PV systems, as well as with other alternative energy systems. It can be used with both solar charge controllers and grid-tied inverters.
Two AC outputs
The main output ensures uninterrupted operation. In the event of a power failure or an interruption of shore/generator power, the MultiPlus-II takes over the supply of the connected loads. The switchover is so fast (less than 20 milliseconds) that uninterrupted operation of computers and other electronic devices is guaranteed. The second output only supplies power when AC is available at the input of the MultiPlus-II. Consumers that should not discharge the battery, such as a water heater, can be connected to this output.
Virtually unlimited power through parallel and three-phase operation
Up to six Multis can be connected in parallel for high power demands. For example, six 48/5000/70 units yield 25 kW/30 kVA output power with 420 A charging capacity. In addition to parallel connection, three units of the same model can also be configured for a three-phase output. But that's not all: by paralleling up to 6 sets of three devices each, you get 75 kW/90 kVA inverter power or 1200 A charging current. Only one GX unit is required for parallel and three-phase operation.
System configuration, monitoring and control on-site
Settings can be changed in a few minutes using the VEConfigure software (a computer or laptop and an MK3-USB interface are required for this). Several monitoring and control options are available: Color Control GX, Venus GX, Octo GX, CANvu GX, Laptop, Computer, Bluetooth (with the optional VE.Bus Smart Dongle), Battery Monitor, Digital Multi Control Panel.
