Improved battery charging: Wireless temperature monitoring

The Smart Battery Sense is a wireless battery voltage and temperature sensor for Victron MPPT solar chargers.
With a voltage and temperature sensor, batteries are charged better, charging efficiency is improved, and battery life is extended.

By measuring the voltage directly at the battery bank terminals, errors due to voltage loss resulting from cable resistance are avoided. This ensures the correct charging voltage.

For lead-acid batteries, battery temperature data is used to adjust charging voltages: cold batteries require a higher charging voltage, whereas hot batteries require a lower charging voltage.
For lithium batteries, temperature data is used to interrupt charging if the batteries are too cold: charging lithium batteries at or below freezing temperatures permanently damages the cells.

No wiring

The connection between the Smart Battery Sense and one or more solar chargers is wireless. It uses a VE.Smart Network - a wireless technology based on the Bluetooth Smart function.

The transmitted data can be used simultaneously by one, two or more solar chargers connected to the same 12 V, 24 V or 48 V battery bank. The Smart Network is set up using the VictronConnect App.

Neat, simple - smart

Installation is simple, fast and neat. Simply attach the two lugs of the device to the battery terminals and mount the Smart Battery Sense device directly on the battery with its self-adhesive strip.
