Control unit for detecting charging operation in a 12 V on-board electrical system (engine running)

If auxiliary consumers are only to be switched on when the engine is running (the alternator supplies power) or if the on-board battery is to be charged by connecting the on-board and starter batteries via a cut-off relay, the D+ contact of the alternator is usually used to control a relay.

However, this contact is often not accessible in the vehicle, no longer available in newer alternators, not available in a container body, or a voltage-dependent control is generally desired. This is where the VOTRONIC D+ Simulator provides a remedy. It generates a corresponding signal for a subsequent powerful (cut-off) relay, controlled by voltage (e.g. from the starter battery). Further applications include the control of auxiliary consumers that should only be activated when the battery is sufficiently charged, such as switching on an air conditioning system while driving or switching a refrigerator, a cold or hot box to 12 V on-board operation.

Intelligent voltage evaluation of the switching thresholds prevents incorrect activation due to voltage dips or peaks. The dynamic threshold detection also prevents oscillation around the switching points when very large loads are switched. The switching status is indicated by an LED. The electronics are protected against moisture, and the connection is made in the rear terminal compartment by a plug-in screw terminal. The switching output is capable of handling 12V / 0.5A, is short-circuit and overload-proof, and is of the PNP type, plus output, load on the ground side.

The device is not suitable for vehicles according to Euro standard 6 and 6+!
