DC/DC Converters for Powering Consumers from the Battery

The on-board electrical system installed in the vehicle is responsible for powering electrical devices in vehicles. If the device to be connected does not match the voltage of the on-board electrical system, a special solution is required. Converting to 2 on-board electrical system voltages (12 V and 24 V) is usually too complex and expensive or not feasible. In addition, the desired device is often not available in the required operating voltage.

VOTRONIC DC/DC converters are available in every 12 V/24 V combination and enable the operation of corresponding consumers with a continuous power of up to 25 A or 45 A without their own battery. In addition, they provide a stabilized and smoothed DC voltage, even if the on-board electrical system voltage is disturbed or subject to considerable fluctuations. In this way, even sensitive consumers that were not designed for automotive use can be operated. They are galvanically isolated between input and output, thus ensuring absolute safety against 24 V/12 V breakdowns. In addition, they have excellent interference suppression and ensure clean ground conditions with long connection cables.

Activation is manual or automatic via the alternator's D+ signal. Another option is automatic control via the operating voltage. The LED operating indicator provides information on the operating status and the load of the device at all times.
