Votronic MPP440CI Solar Charge Controller up to 440 W
Effective battery charging for motorhomes, caravans, boats and off-grid solar systems!
Votronic "MPP" (Maximum-Power-Point) series solar controllers with "IU1oU2" charging characteristics are connected between the solar panel(s) and battery(ies). With MPP technology, the controller automatically determines the maximum power output (MPP) of the solar modules several times per second. It then transforms the voltage surplus of the solar module into a higher charging current for the battery (achieved through high-frequency switching regulator technology with high efficiency). This gain in charging current ensures shorter charging times and the best possible utilization of the solar system's power. The MPP solar controllers operate fully automatically, are maintenance-free and offer the following functions:
Features at a glance:
- MPPT charging (Maximum Power Point Tracking)
- CI-Bus connection: for displaying all relevant data on a central vehicle display
- 8 switchable charging characteristics for lead, gel, AGM and LiFePO4 batteries
- Two battery charging outputs: Automatic charging of the main supply battery (12V) as well as support charging and trickle charging (max. 1 A) of the vehicle starter battery (Start) with overcharge protection
- Measurement output for EBL: Enables convenient use of a (solar) current display built into the electrical block to monitor the solar system
- AES switching output: Causes refrigerators with "AES" to automatically switch from gas to 12 V operation when there is a consistently abundant solar power surplus.
- Overcharge protection: Reduces the battery charging current if there is too much solar power and the battery is full, ensuring the highest possible battery charge level through immediate recharging when power is consumed.
- Parallel/buffer operation: Compliance with charging regulations even when consumers are operating simultaneously.
- "IU1oU2" charging characteristic: Defined charging voltage increase (U1) prevents harmful acid stratification (lead) and ensures equalization charging of individual battery cells (lead and lith.), followed by automatic trickle charging (U2).
- On-board network filter: Problem-free parallel operation with wind and engine generators, mains chargers, alternators etc.
- The charging voltage is free of spikes and regulated in such a way that overcharging of the batteries is impossible.
- Connection for battery temperature sensor: Temperature sensor is absolutely necessary when the lithium characteristic is set!
Votronic MPP charge controllers are manufactured in Germany and are among the most powerful and reliable charge controllers on the market.
The MPP series from Votronic works with the Maximum Power Point Tracking principle. With MPP technology, the controller automatically determines the maximum power output of the solar modules several times per second. It then transforms the voltage surplus of the solar module into a higher charging current for the battery (achieved through high-frequency switching regulator technology with high efficiency). This gain in charging current ensures shorter charging times and the best possible utilization of the solar system's power.
As an additional feature, the charge controller offers the option of constantly charging the vehicle starter battery with a secondary charging output. Note: A temperature sensor is necessary for charging a lithium-ion battery.
