A solar system, correctly sized, can make a motorhome, caravan or boat self-sufficient and consists of three components: solar module, solar charge controller and battery.
During the day, power consumption is immediately recharged; at night, reverse discharge of the battery is prevented. The devices are characterized by high operational reliability. High-quality charging technology in conjunction with intelligent microprocessor control ensures precise adherence to charging voltages, currents and times. The main charging output with IU1oU2 charging characteristic can be optimally set for acid/wet batteries, gel or AGM/fleece batteries.
With the temperature sensor (recommended accessory) for battery temperature compensation, the charging voltage is automatically increased at low temperatures (winter operation), and the weakened battery is charged better and faster. At summer temperatures, the charging voltage is lowered, thereby reducing the stress (gassing) on the battery and increasing the lifespan of sealed (e.g. gel) batteries. The second charging output has reduced voltage and current and is used for supportive charging and trickle charging of the vehicle's starter battery during long periods of inactivity.
Note: The classic functionality of PWM controllers is increasingly less compatible with the sensitive battery management systems of modern LiFePO4 batteries. Therefore, this characteristic is no longer available in the new SR charge controllers, and we strongly recommend the use of MPP controllers for charging lithium batteries.
