WAGO Green Range Connecting Terminal with Lever – Series 221-422: Fast, Safe, and Now More Sustainable

Even small changes can make a big difference – that's why the WAGO Series 221 connecting terminal has been revised. The new Green Range variant is partly made from bio-circular and recycled plastics, thus helping to conserve natural resources. Without compromising on quality and safety, it remains the proven solution for fast, safe, and flexible electrical installation.

With a rated voltage of 450V and a current carrying capacity of up to 32A, the terminal is ideal for a wide variety of applications. Thanks to the innovative CAGE CLAMP® technology, conductors can be connected without tools, without the need for pre-treatment or ferrules. The compact dimensions (13.2 x 8.4 x 18.6 mm) allow for space-saving installation, while the transparent housing ensures quick visual inspection. The terminals in this series have two conductors, meaning two clamping points, and come in packs of 100.

How does wiring with WAGO terminals work?

WAGO terminals are very small and compact. Due to their extremely small dimensions, they are ideal for tight spaces. This allows the terminals to be installed very conveniently and also creates space for possible expansions. Operation is intuitive, and connecting conductors is quick and easy. The levers can be opened and closed with little effort. Thanks to side grip recesses, the WAGO terminals are securely held in any situation. The procedure for connecting conductors is as follows:

1. Strip the desired conductors
2. Open the WAGO terminal with the lever
3. Insert the conductors
4. Close the lever

The transparent housing allows you to continuously check the conductor position. The contact point is gas-tight, ensuring a permanently secure connection of the conductor to the busbar. Two easily accessible test ports (one in the direction of the conductor connection and the other on the opposite side) make testing conditions very convenient, even when installed. The application is suitable for ambient temperatures of up to 85 °C, and the maximum terminal temperature according to the UL standard is 105°C. WAGO terminals have globally recognized approvals. If you want to disconnect conductors from each other, this is also easily possible. As with insertion, the lever is opened here and the cable is removed.

Connecting cables is one of the most common tasks when connecting electronic devices in the household, expanding a camper, or installing solar modules. Since WAGO terminals can connect both stranded and solid conductors, the application possibilities are versatile. In addition, the terminals can be used with any cable cross-section, which makes them so flexible and compatible for every application. Two application examples are, for instance, connecting solar modules to charge controllers or connecting consumers to a battery.
