WAGO Green Range Connecting Terminal with Lever – Series 221-423: Fast, Secure, and now more Sustainable

Even small changes can make a big difference – that's why the WAGO connecting terminal Series 221 has been revised. The new Green Range variant is partly made from bio-circular and recycled plastics, thus contributing to the conservation of natural resources. Without compromising on quality and safety, it remains the proven solution for fast, secure, and flexible electrical installation.

With a rated voltage of 450 V and a current carrying capacity of up to 32 A, the terminal is ideal for a wide range of applications. Thanks to the innovative CAGE CLAMP® technology, conductors can be connected without tools, without the need for pre-treatment or ferrules. The compact dimensions (18.8 x 8.4 x 18.6 mm) allow for space-saving installation, while the transparent housing ensures quick visual inspection. The terminals in this series have three conductors, i.e., three clamping points, and come in a pack of 50.

How does wiring work with WAGO terminals?

WAGO terminals are very small and compact. Due to their extremely small dimensions, they are ideal for tight spaces. This makes the terminals very convenient to install and also creates space for potential expansions. Operation is intuitive, and connecting conductors is simple and quick. The levers can be opened and closed with minimal effort. Thanks to lateral grip recesses, WAGO terminals are firmly held in any situation. The procedure for connecting conductors is as follows:

1. Strip the desired conductors
2. Open the WAGO terminal with the lever
3. Insert the conductors
4. Close the lever 

The transparent housing allows you to continuously check the conductor position. The contact point is gas-tight, ensuring a permanently secure contact between the conductor and the busbar. Two easily accessible test ports (one is in the direction of the conductor connection and the other on the opposite side) make testing conditions very convenient even when installed. The application is suitable for ambient temperatures of up to 85 °C, and the maximum clamping temperature according to UL standard is 105°C. WAGO terminals have globally recognized approvals. If you want to disconnect conductors from each other, this is also easily possible. As with insertion, the lever is opened, and the cable is removed.

Since WAGO terminals can connect both stranded and solid conductors, the application possibilities are versatile.
